Poll: Arkansas Parents Support Education Freedom, 'LEARNS' ACT

CONWAY, AR — Today, Opportunity Arkansas released new polling that shows continued support for education choice and also identifies opportunities to educate Arkansans about the Education Freedom Account (EFA) program as well as the LEARNS Act. The polling specifically surveyed Arkansas parents of school-age children who are also likely voters.

Highlights of the poll include the following:

  • Most Arkansas parents (61%)support school choice, including a majority of Democrat (51%) and independent voters (56%);

  • Significant demand among Arkansas parents exists for EFAs with 61 percent either currently using or plan to use the program;
  • Among parents who are familiar with the LEARNS Act, nearly half (47%) say they support the law, a 14-point increase over all parents surveyed.

Upon release of this latest polling, Opportunity Arkansas Founder and CEO Nic Horton offered the following statement:

“As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of the LEARNS Act, it’s clear Arkansas parents are learning more about the law—and the more they learn about it, the more they like it. This support will only continue to increase as more and more families experience education freedom. Arkansas’s education reform journey is just beginning.”

The polling occurred over the period of February 12-15 and surveyed more than 500 Arkansas parent voters. Additional information about this poll as well as an accompanying slide deck can be found here.
